Sustainability

We believe nature and sustainability teaches a child a sense that they are part of and dependent on something greater than themselves.

It's never too early for a child to begin understanding environmentally sustainable and responsible practices. Children in our kindergarten enjoy gardening, water conservation, and composting as part of our Boutique Bubs Sustainability Program, as they learn to appreciate natural environments.

At Boutique Bubs we are committed to playing our part in protecting the planet and caring for the environment for the sake of future generations.

To ensure we meet the National Quality Framework on environmental requirements, services must "take an active role in caring for its environment and contribute to a sustainable future".

To help us on our sustainability journey, we have enrolled in the Small Green Steps Program. This is a 40 step environmental program that has been specifically developed for childcare services in Australia. The program will take us through four levels of sustainability from Basic, Intermediate, Advanced to Best Practice.

We invite you to join us on our sustainability journey by supporting any operational and environmental initiatives including embracing the waste management principles, energy efficiency practices as well as other sustainability initiatives that we introduce along the way.

Boutique Bubs Sustainable Practices & Resources

Vegetable/Herb Garden: Children are involved in the planting and harvesting process of the vegetables, which are then incorporated into our menu by our cook and enjoyed in the daily meals.

Solar Power: Solar energy is clean, renewable and sustainable, helping to protect our environment and assists in powering our Centre.

Recycling Bins: Paper waste, scraps or offcuts from our art activities are placed into each rooms recycling bin and we teach our children the benefits of recycling.

Reverse Art Truck: This is a grass-roots artist reuse organization which recycles materials that would have otherwise gone into landfills - making them available for the greater community, art educators, artists and crafters of all types.

Indoor plants: For a healthier indoor environment meaning cleaner and greener, plants emphasise to our children the importance of plant life in our world.

Recycling Children's Clothes: We have a donation bin for parents and staff to recycle outgrown or unused clothes which, rather than them ending up in landfill, are then donated to Diabetes Victoria.
